ROUTE INFORMATION
Riders will tackle a 110km loop using the access roads and forest trails within Dalby Forest. With 1800m of ascent, so expect a challenging ride and close racing, whatever your level of fitness. Riders commence from our event village in the heart of the forest. A short neutralised section of road leads to the start of the gravel and here the real racing begins. Don't let the initial flatter sections fool you, though it is a good opportunity to work in a group! After the first 6km warm up the climbing begins with some gentle leg warmers followed by fast descents on perfect Dalby gravel. The first of the bigger climbs comes after 16km with a long pull up the infamous White Cliff Rigg, toping out at 21km. Back on the flatter part of the course, this could be a chance to take on food, consolidate a lead or share some work in a small group? After our feed and aid station the race heads east on fast, well surfaced undulating terrain - a great chance to really power along. The super fast descent into the Deep Dale traverse marks the start of a short testing climb up Bickley Gate and back onto the escarpment. The next 15km retains most of its height and winds its way through the fast trails above Crosscliff Wood. Short, sharp kickers and some technical corners are sure to provide a launch pad for any race winning moves ahead of the final sprint for the line
REQUIRED KIT
We recommend that all riders carry a minimum set of kit to remain self-sufficient throughout the event. This is to ensure you can manage any issues that arise during the ride. The recommended kit includes: A water bottle or hydration pack with at least 500ml of water Snacks or sports nutrition for the duration of the event Spare inner tubes (even if running tubeless) Tyre plugs (if running tubeless) Tyre levers A multitool and chain splitter A split link for chain repair All riders are required to wear a helmet at all times while riding. The helmet must meet current safety and regulatory standards.
FEED STATIONS
Riders on the 110km route will pass three feed stations. The feed station will be passed at 23km, 53km, and 76km. Neutral mechanical support will be available via a self-service station. Riders should be prepared to handle their own bike repairs, though mechanics will be on hand to assist where possible. Please note that there may be a charge for any parts used. The feed station will provide water, sports hydration, and basic nutrition, including bananas, flapjacks, sweet treats, and some sports nutrition. We strongly recommend that riders do not rely solely on the feed station. In the spirit of gravel riding, we encourage riders to remain self-sufficient throughout the event.
TIMING
All riders will be issued a timing chip at registration. Please attach the chip to your fork leg using the provided zip ties. Timing stations will be positioned at various points on the course to record split times and monitor rider safety. After crossing the finish line, all riders will receive a printout with their finishing time, current position, and split times. It is the rider's responsibility to ensure that their timing chip is returned to the event centre, even if they retire from the event.
RACE REGULATIONS
INSURANCE REQUIREMENTS: All riders must have third-party accident and liability insurance to cover all eventualities. This can be obtained through various providers or as part of some national federation membership schemes. Proof of cover may be required at registration. LICENSING: Pro/Elite Riders: A valid racing license from your national federation is mandatory. Other Categories: Riders in age-group categories are not required to hold a racing license, though it is recommended for its added benefits. CATEGORIES: Riders will be entered into the appropriate age and gender category based on their age as of December 31st of the event year. Detailed age groupings are available in the relevant section. EQUIPMENT: Riders may use any bike type (road, mountain, hybrid, cross, etc.) except tandem or recumbent bikes. Prohibited Equipment: E-bikes, time trial bikes, and aero bars are not allowed. Riders must carry their own tools and a spare tire or tubular during the race. While tools and spare parts will be available at feed zones, riders should be prepared to make basic repairs themselves. Wheel changes are permitted, but riders must use the same bike frame for the entire event. TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE: External technical assistance is not permitted. Assistance can only be provided by other riders or official event staff. Event staff will be stationed at feed zones to assist if riders are unable to make their own repairs. Violating this rule may result in disqualification. TIMINGS & RANKINGS: Finishing times will be measured from the neutralised lead-out start, not from when riders cross the timing mat. Rankings and positions will be determined using this timing method. ROUTE MARKINGS: The route will be clearly marked with arrows, with double or triple arrows indicating steep descents. Distance markers will be placed at 75km, 50km, 25km, 10km, 1km, and 500m from the finish. LEAD VEHICLE: A lead vehicle/motorbike will guide the Elite men’s and women’s categories. Riders overtaken by the lead vehicle must keep to the left-hand side of the trail to allow faster riders to pass on the right. MRASHALS & OFFICIALS: A team of marshals and officials will be stationed along the course to ensure a safe and fair race.
